“ Some ways of violence in two novels of José Tomás de Cuéllar”

Abstract

During the XIX century the society gazed at women like a model in charge of transmitting and encouraging the virtues and moral values at home; which is reflected in the nineteenth-century speech and more specifically in the narrative of José Tomás Cuéllar, refracting the legitimacy of marriage like a prescription of a moral order; and the violation to that order with the misfortune and to the compliance of happiness, showing all that in the characters of his novels. Having resulted in the analysis of some ways of violence still prevalent nowadays.
